1. Introduction

These Terms & Conditions (“T&C”) govern participation in the Intern2China program (“the Program”), operated by the Benelux Chamber of Commerce in Shanghai (“BenCham”, “we”, “us”, “our”). By submitting an application and paying the Internship Support Fee, you (“Intern”, “you”) agree to be bound by these T&C and the Internship Support Agreement (ISA).

2. Eligibility

2.1 You must be enrolled at a university outside China at the time of application.

2.2 You must provide accurate personal information and supporting documentation as required in the application process.

    3. Services Provided

    Upon receipt of the Internship Support Fee, BenCham agrees to provide the following services, as also outlined in the ISA:

    3.1 Intake Video Call – an initial consultation to discuss goals, preferences, and expectations.
    3.2 Matchmaking – facilitation of introductions and interview opportunities with employers within BenCham’s network.
    3.3 Airport Pick-up Guidance – support with transportation upon arrival in China.
    3.4 Onboarding Assistance – guidance once an internship placement is secured.
    3.5 Support in China – help with housing, police registration, SIM card, and bank account.
    3.6 Access to Events – participation in events hosted by BenCham member companies.
    3.7 Bootcamp – orientation and training to support the transition into life in China.
    3.8 ECNU Registration (if applicable) – instructions and guidance on registering for the Intern2China program at East China Normal University.

    4. Internship Support Fee

    4.1 The Internship Support Fee is €499.00.
    4.2 The fee is fully refundable only if BenCham is unable to facilitate any internship intake calls with prospective employers.
    4.3 In all other circumstances, the fee is strictly non-refundable.

    4.5 Only applicants who have paid the Internship Support Fee will proceed to the next steps of the Program.

    5. ECNU Tuition Payment (if applicable)

    5.1 Tuition and related fees for East China Normal University (ECNU) must be paid no later than 2 weeks before the start of the program.
    5.2 Payment to ECNU will only be made after the Intern has signed an internship labor contract with the host company.

    6. Termination

    6.1 You may terminate this Agreement in writing at any time. However, the Internship Support Fee will not be refunded except under Section 4.2.
    6.2 BenCham may terminate your participation if you breach these T&C or the ISA.

    7. Confidentiality & Intellectual Property

    7.1 Both parties agree to maintain the confidentiality of proprietary or sensitive information shared during the Program.
    7.2 Intellectual property created by the Intern during the internship will be handled according to the agreement between the Intern and the host company.

    8. Conduct & Responsibilities

    8.1 You must behave professionally and comply with the rules of the host company.

    8.2 You are required to respect Chinese law, local customs, and cultural practices.

    8.3 BenCham reserves the right to withdraw support if conduct is deemed inappropriate or harmful.

    9. Liability Disclaimer

    9.1 BenCham facilitates internship placements but is not a party to the labor contract between the Intern and the host company.

    9.2 BenCham is not liable for losses, damages, or injuries incurred during the internship or related activities, except in cases of gross negligence or willful misconduct.

    10. Force Majeure

    Neither party shall be held liable for delays or failure to perform obligations caused by events beyond reasonable control, including but not limited to natural disasters, pandemics, strikes, or government actions.

    11. Dispute Resolution

    11.1 Both parties agree to first seek to resolve disputes through mediation.
    11.2 If mediation fails, disputes shall be resolved by arbitration in Shanghai, under the laws of the People’s Republic of China.

    12. Governing Law

    These T&C are governed by and construed under the laws of the People’s Republic of China.

    13. Entire Agreement

    These T&C, together with the Internship Support Agreement, constitute the entire agreement between the parties and supersede all prior discussions or understandings.
